Switch answering services without dropping a call.
Moving from one answering service to another is mostly a phone-routing job and a notice-period job. These guides cover both for the services buyers most often leave, using each provider's own published terms, and they say where the terms were not published.
Switching from Smith.ai: What Smith.ai charges, its 30 days of notice, moving a forwarded or ported number, and what to download first.
Switching from Goodcall: Forwarded line or published Goodcall number, dashboard cancellation, short call history on smaller plans, and the switch order.
Switching from an answering service: Minutes, notice terms and number ownership at Ruby, AnswerConnect and PATLive, and the order that protects your number.
Forwarding or porting
Most switches do not require moving your phone number at all. Forwarding sends calls from the number you already have to the new service, and it can be changed back in minutes. Porting moves the number itself to a new carrier and takes longer. Each guide explains which one applies to you.
