Answer Engine Optimization

Make your business easier for AI search to understand and cite.

Chleb's AEO program establishes an observable baseline, improves the pages that answer real buyer questions, and measures citation and mention coverage over time. It is a scoped monthly service, not a promise of rankings, indexing, citations, or leads.

The work

A baseline first. Then useful changes you can inspect.

The first month establishes what can actually be observed. Each following month repeats the same questions, improves two meaningful pages, and keeps technical findings and business outcomes separate.

01

Technical and entity check

Review the owned site's crawl access, indexability signals, canonical URLs, sitemap, internal links, visible business facts, and structured data for mismatches. llms.txt is treated as an optional diagnostic, not a requirement or ranking lever.

02

Fixed 24-question cohort

Build and approve six discovery, six comparison, six qualification, and six entity questions around the client's actual market, services, and buyer decisions. The approved wording stays fixed for comparable monthly runs.

03

Manual engine observation

Run the approved cohort manually across the AI-search engines named in the quote. Record the engine, mode, date, question, answer state, cited URL, and any blocked or unavailable sample as N/A rather than guessing.

04

Prioritized page plan

Map unanswered buyer questions and unsupported claims to owned pages, then choose the first two substantial updates based on usefulness, business fit, and publication readiness.

Monthly scope

Four bounded deliverables. No content treadmill.

The program stays intentionally narrow enough to do substantive work for one site at this price.

Repeat the same 24 questions

Observe the fixed cohort across the quoted engines and preserve cited, mentioned, absent, and N/A/blocked states. Changing the cohort starts a new baseline instead of manufacturing improvement.

Two substantial page updates

Improve or create up to two meaningful owned-site pages each month: clearer answers, supported facts, useful comparisons, service boundaries, headings, and internal links, not keyword swaps or mass-generated filler.

One technical check

Recheck crawl access, relevant robots directives, canonical and sitemap coverage, page rendering, internal links, and structured data consistency for the pages in scope.

One evidence report

Report the observable denominator, citations, unlinked mentions, absences, N/A cells, cited pages, changes shipped, technical findings, and qualified-lead evidence separately.

Measurement

A citation, a mention, and an unavailable answer are not the same result.

Every question-and-engine cell gets one explicit state. We preserve the raw denominator so an inaccessible sample cannot quietly become a failure or disappear from the report.

Cited

The answer includes a clickable source link to the owned site.

Mentioned

The business is named, but the answer does not link to the owned site.

Absent

The completed answer neither names the business nor cites the owned site.

N/A or blocked

No comparable answer could be observed. Keep it out of the coverage denominator and state why.

There is no universal AI rank. Reports show observed coverage for the approved cohort, on named engines and dates. A change in an answer is an observation, not proof that one page edit caused it.

Fit check

AEO works best when there is a real business to describe and real evidence to measure.

This is not a shortcut around a weak offer, an unusable website, or basic search accessibility.

Good fit

  • You own a site with real services, facts, and buyer questions to explain.
  • A qualified inquiry or booked conversation is worth tracking beyond a click.
  • Someone on your team can confirm claims and approve page changes.
  • You can evaluate a consistent 90-day observation window without treating one answer sample as a trend.

Not a fit

  • You want a guaranteed top position in every AI answer.
  • You need paid distribution, reputation management, or several domains included.
  • You cannot provide source material or approve factual changes.
  • You want AEO to replace foundational SEO, a usable website, or lead follow-up.

Boundaries

What the AEO scope does not include.

Clear exclusions protect the quality of the work and keep a visibility metric from turning into an invented business result.

  • Paid placements, sponsorships, and ad spend
  • Work on domains or profiles outside the one owned site in scope
  • Bulk article production, keyword stuffing, or hidden content
  • Guaranteed crawling, indexing, rankings, citations, traffic, or leads
  • Ongoing SEO, which is a separate service quoted on its own
  • Publishing without the client's approval

AEO is scoped and quoted on a discovery call. Your written quote confirms the exact site, engines, publishing responsibilities, usage if any, and any work outside this scope before work begins.

Primary guidance

The program follows what the engines publish, not AEO folklore.

Google explicitly says there is no special AI schema or AI text file required. Crawler access, helpful visible content, accurate entities, and evidence-backed measurement remain the practical foundation.

Start with a defensible baseline, not a visibility promise.

Tell us which owned site, market, and services matter. We will confirm whether the AEO scope fits and put the exact terms and price in writing before work begins.
